this is an oil painting i did in 2012, based on a photo of my dad as a kid holding a ferret in a cooking pot. i’ve always been attracted to these old images. they are so different to photographs today. someone is always posing. now people are so accustomed to the camera they’ve tired of striking a pose and our photos have become mundane. in my dads day when the camera came out everyone scrambled to grab the most interesting thing they could find…in this case a ferret in a pot.
