this image is one i’ve painted and drawn again and again for the last four years. the image came from a photograph of my dad and two of his friends on a camping trip near lake eildon. its a great photo, black and white small square format. the boys look happy. my dad chris is the one in the middle, when he first showed it to me he explained that the two boys either side of him were now dead. people have often interpreted the figures as the wounded or soldiers. i guess i probably portray them that way because i know the sad story. i named the work camp alexander to incorporate both possibilities. happy camp alexander or the wounded soldiers camp alexander.
